Microblading
Pros:
- Microbladed brows look very natural. If done by an experienced professional, each stroke looks like real hair.
- has thin or patchy brows
- wants a subtle shape enhancement
- doesn’t regularly fill in their brows
- Microbladed brows are the least permanent of all Permanent Makeup because of the shallow depth we penetrate the pigment under the skin.
- They therefore require more frequent touch-ups than other techniques.
- Typically clients come back between 8-12 months for a colour boost.
- Microblading is less effective on oily/combination skin types than other methods.

Ombre Powder Fill
- has oily or combination skin
- fills in brows regularly with pencil or shadow
Ombre Powder Fill
- Uses a more traditional tattooing method, with longer lasting results, and works with most skin types, including oily or combination skin.
- Clients come back for colour boosts closer to the 12-18 month mark.
- The brow is also fuller and more defined or dramatic than with the hairstroke method.
- Many people are fearful of this method looking unnatural, because it does create a more defined, solid look than microblading alone.
- But today’s powder fill permanent brows are way more natural looking than their 1985 predecessors.
- In fact, ombre fill brows can be made to look very natural, by not saturating the desired brow shape 100% with pigment and allowing for a defined, yet soft/non-solid look,
Who it is best for:
- has oily or combination skin
- fills in brows regularly with pencil or shadow
Hybrid Brows
Hybrid brow is pretty much what it sounds like; a combination of microblading and powder fill.
Pros:
- The combination of microbladed hair strokes and a powder fill gives an incredibly natural-looking brow.
- It’s a bit more defined and filled in than just straight microbladed brows, and a bit less solid and dramatic than the ombre powder fill.
Who it is best for:
- All brows are customized specifically for each individual client based on their desired look,
- The hybrid brow costs slightly more than the other two methods, but only slightly.

Microblading FAQs
We answer your questions about microblading.
Is it painful?
No. Prior to the procedure your brow technician will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area; it is also reapplied during the procedure. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine, so please alert your technician if you are allergic to any of these products. The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic and the procedure has been described as feeling like light scratches to not feeling anything. After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients can take Tylenol for relief, but not Aspirin or Ibuprofen.
How long does it take?
The first microblading session may take up to 2 hours. During the session, the brow technician will shape and style the client’s brows for client approval. We follow with pigment colour selection and only begin the procedure once the client is satisfied with the proposed shape and colour. To ensure the best results, the client should come in for a follow-up visit in 4-6 weeks for touch-ups. This touch-up session can take up to 1 hour to complete.
How long does it take to heal?
The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and the eyebrow colour will appear very dark. This is normal. The redness will soon disappear and the eyebrow colour will lighten by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the colour consistency of the Microbladed area. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the colour to fully set in. You’ll notice the color is very light at about two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside-out even though the surface of the skin is healed. The true colour will reveal itself once healed.
Is the touch-up session necessary?
Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary. Certain areas may not hold the colour during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment colour may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes may also need to be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a darker shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the colour for as long as possible.
Who is not suitable for this procedure?
Microblading is not suitable for persons that:
- Are using Accutane
- Have heart conditions or are using heart medications
- Have diabetes (will require a physician’s note)
- Have skin disease or irritations
- Have had Botox in the last 2 weeks
- Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks
- Are allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, or epinephrine

Pregnant or nursing clients can receive microblading at their own discretion. We suggest discussing with your doctor first. Microblading is considered a tattoo, and just like with alcohol or sushi consumption, it is a personal choice to do so during this period.
* We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason. Our brow technicians make the decision to microblade an individual based on their own discretion. *
